Display Quality and Performance Metrics

The first thing you need to evaluate is the raw performance of the OLED panels. Graphic OLEDs, unlike simple character displays, require precise pixel control for images, logos, and text. Key metrics include brightness, typically measured in nits (cd/m²). A standard graphic OLED might offer 100-150 nits, but for outdoor or high-ambient-light applications, you'll want 300 nits or more. A vendor that holds patents for OLED technology (e.g., for pixel compensation, driver IC design, or encapsulation methods) is likely to be more innovative and invested in the technology. Also, look for industry awards or certifications. For example, a vendor that has won awards for quality or innovation is a good sign. Don't forget to check their website and marketing materials. Are they transparent about their manufacturing process? Do they provide detailed technical information? A vendor that hides their manufacturing location or refuses to share test data is a red flag. Finally, consider visiting their factory if possible. This gives you a chance to see their production line, quality control processes, and inventory firsthand. A vendor that welcomes factory visits is usually more confident in their capabilities.
